Do you know what Dystopia means? If you look for the definition in a dictionary it appears: "Idea or description of an imaginary country or society in which everything is organized in an oppressive, frightening or totalitarian way, as opposed to Utopia."
Typically, this type of country or society is represented in science fiction films as cautionary tales, as a way of forcing us to reflect on the world around us and on ourselves, on how we behave and on the consequences of that behavior.
The truth is that, unfortunately, Venezuela is not far from being characterized as a Dystopia. A totalitarian, authoritarian, abusive, oppressive state in which citizens do not have access to basic care health, have no freedom, do not have essential goods, starve to death is basically the description of Hell and also the definition of a Dystopia.
Nicolás Maduro is a power-hungry psychopath who thinks only of himself. This man is a cancer that plagues the Venezuelan society and must be removed at any cost. Unfortunately he´s not the only he who constitutes the problem. There is a whole bunch of corrupt, of blood suckers who feed on the misery of those who have nothing, of the weakest, of the most vulnerable and still dare to shout out that they defend the country and its interests, as if there was no such thing as absolute hypocrisy.
Last night, when I heard the news about the revolution and the takeover of Acting President Juan Guaidó I was both immensely happy, but also my heart became heavy and concerned because I knew there would be a very steep price to be paid for freedom. But this is both necessary as well as long overdue.
My heart goes out to all of the people who fight against monsters that deprive them of their freedom and all of their basic rights.
