Temple of Diana

Writer: soniamelodiassoniamelodias

This temple is one of the most important Roman monuments in our country and is located in the highest part of the city of Évora, so you must be prepared to climb up the narrow streets to get there.

Its style of construction is Corinthian, more specifically it is composed of 14 Corinthian columns topped with Estremoz marble.

It is an interesting monument, but unfortunately, after having been in the cradle of civilization in Rome at the Forum Romanum, I am hardly impressed...

"This is one of the landmarks of the city and one of the main symbols of the Roman occupation of Portugal. The temple was originally built in the first century AD to serve as a place of worship to the Emperor Augustus and still retains 14 of its columns. erected in honor of Diana, the Roman goddess of hunting, hence known as Temple of Diana."
